About the Category A2 (Motorcycle) exam

The Permiso A2 authorises motorcycle riding in Spain. The categories progress from AM (mopeds up to 50 cc), A1 (light motorcycles up to 125 cc), A2 (medium-power motorcycles) to A (all motorcycles, unrestricted power).

The theory exam has 30 questions to answer in 30 minutes, with a pass mark of 27. Questions cover traffic signs, priority rules, cornering physics, and hazards specific to two-wheel vehicles.

Motorcycle-specific questions have different technical nuances compared to the car licence. Using topic-filtered practice and timed simulations is the most reliable way to prepare.

How to prepare

  1. 1

    Learn the question bank

The DGT draws exam questions from a published bank. Practicing every question category is more effective than cramming theory alone.

  2. 2

    Drill your weak topics

After each practice session, review the questions you got wrong. Targeted repetition on weak areas is the fastest way to close gaps.

  3. 3

    Simulate the real exam

Run timed full-length simulations once you are consistently passing practice sets. The time pressure of the real exam is a skill of its own.

  4. 4

    Target 95 %+ before booking

Candidates who consistently score 95 % or higher on practice tests have the best first-attempt pass rates. Book the exam when you are consistently above that threshold.
