About the Category D (Bus) exam
The Permiso D authorises passenger vehicle operation in Spain. D1 covers minibuses up to 16 seats; the full D licence covers all buses without restriction.
The theory test has 30 questions in 30 minutes, pass mark 27. It tests passenger transport regulations, accessibility requirements, emergency procedures, and behaviour on specialised road types.
Passenger transport demands a high level of responsibility. Topic-block practice - working through each regulatory area before sitting timed simulations - is the most effective preparation method.
How to prepare
-
1
Learn the question bank
The DGT draws exam questions from a published bank. Practicing every question category is more effective than cramming theory alone.
-
2
Drill your weak topics
After each practice session, review the questions you got wrong. Targeted repetition on weak areas is the fastest way to close gaps.
-
3
Simulate the real exam
Run timed full-length simulations once you are consistently passing practice sets. The time pressure of the real exam is a skill of its own.
-
4
Target 95 %+ before booking
Candidates who consistently score 95 % or higher on practice tests have the best first-attempt pass rates. Book the exam when you are consistently above that threshold.
