How many points make up the standard balance of an experienced driver?
Reviewed on 7 Oct 2026
- A 8 points
- B 10 points
- ✓ 12 points
- D 15 points
Why this is the correct answer
Under Article 63.1 of the Traffic Act, a driving licence starts with 12 points. As an exception, holders of a licence no more than three years old (unless they already held another licence for that long) and drivers who regain their licence after losing all their points start with 8 (Art. 63.2). With no penalties, the balance can rise to 15 points.
