Why this is the correct answer
Under Annex XI of the General Vehicle Regulations, the V-13 ('L') plate must be displayed for the first year after obtaining a first driving licence, at the rear left of the vehicle. Do not confuse this with other novice periods: the lower alcohol limit applies for 2 years (Art. 20 RGC) and the 8-point initial balance applies until the licence is 3 years old (Art. 63.2 LSV).
